Goodbye

Today I said goodbye to my best friend for two whole years. It was perfect.
Here's a little entry from my journal: "Chase stood there looking at me for a sec, then he gave me the best hug I have ever received. Ever. He held me so tight, and so close. I said, “thanks for everything,” and he just held me tighter. Man, what a hug. He didn’t need to say anything, because he had said everything that needed to be said in that hug.  I can’t really explain what I felt, but I can say that as he hugged me, I knew that everything was going to be ok....As I walked out he said, "See you in two!"...I looked at him in the window, and he just stood there watching me get in my car. I took one last look at him, then drove away."
Man, he is so great. He's going to be the best missionary there ever was!

Then:)
Now:)

Love you Chase! See you in two!! :)

First College Date

I went on my very first college date today! His name is Russ, and he's in my ward. Before tonight, this was the only conversation we had ever had:
K:"Hi, can I sit here?" R:"Yeah." K:"I'm Karlie, what's your name?" R:"I'm Russ."
We went to the First Presidency Christmas devotional, then walked around temple square to see the lights. It was good, but he forgot to feed me, so by the time it was over, I was a ravenous pig. Don't judge, I only had two granola bars all day.

One Month

until my best friend leaves on his mission.

Battle of the Blogs!!!

Blog about us! Blog about me! Who we gon' stalk, what we gon' see! (Sung to the melody of the "Thinking 'bout us" song)

I love to blog. All I ever think about is blogging. I consider "being productive," as following multiple blogs at the same time. I gage my self-esteem on how many followers I have. If there was one thing I could blog about? It would be, well...BLOGS!!

Ha. Jokes! Sometimes there's nothing to blog about... so I asked my roommate what I should post in this blog, and she gave me an ingenious reply (see song above). So I will now blog about us

Me and Lynds have amazing college adventures, to say the least. We are just two little people, on one big campus. We struggle with many things, as my other short friends out there can attest to, such as- staying standing up on the bus, because the poles are too tall to reach, people running into you, because they are too tall to see you, being mistaken for a twelve year old... ya know, the usual. Life is rough as a little college student! Everyday is a battle. You may ask, what are our tactics for survival? Let me share our combat secrets:

First. When battling big crowds, get behind a tall person (which is't that hard, seeing how everyone is taller...) and let them push through the people. In this symbiotic relationship, everyone is happy! No one messes with the tall person, for fear of being squashed, or mauled, or jumped, or glared at, and we get to our destination in one piece :D

Second. Wear bright colors. This makes you stand out, so people don't just run into you, or sit on you. Well... at least if they do, they have NO excuses. Unless, of course they are color blind, in which case some exceptions have to be made. Also, who doesn't love looking like a crossing guard on a regular basis?

These two strategies have been the keys to our success when it comes to surviving at College. Feel free to apply these into your daily life. And ask yourself this, "Have I hugged a short person today?" Remember, short people have feelings too.

I hate boys

I'm on an I HATE BOYS rampage, so beware...

Why I hate boys:

1. You really need to talk to them, then they say they'll call you back, and you're waiting and waiting, then they don't, and it's time for bed
2. They say they'll stay your friend at college, but they just act like big bums who don't know you (but they totally do)
3. They say stupid things like,"come downstairs and we'll snuggle" when you really don't want to snuggle with them AT ALL.
4. They act all haughty at home, then when they happen to go to your same college, they act super nice and slightly adorable.
5. They try to steal your phone to read a text you just sent, then they say, "I was just trying to hold your hand," then they actually try to hold your hand!
6. You knock on their apartment door, and they're wearing only a speedo

There you have it.
6 different boys, and 6 reasons why I really really hate boys.

Next Chapter

Tomorrow starts a new chapter of my life, or as my pal Justine says, "The 5th season."
According to Justin, if my life was a tv series, here's how the seasons would be:
Season 1: birth of Karlie to toddler days
Season 2: elementary
Season 3: junior high (this is the season most people would want to skip)
Season 4: high school
Season 5: COLLEGE!-I used to be terrified of this season, but sitting here, on my new bed, I finally feel ready.

Here are some hilarious college life stories that happened so far..

Lynds and I keep forgetting to have dinner, so a few nights ago, around 11, we decided to make a lovely dinner of spray pancakes with teddy grahams. It turned into a delicious pile of gloop.

We have a new friend that likes to call us "the little ones" and the "hobbits...." We are short enough to play on the chick-fil-a playground, but not tall enough to reach the pole on the bus! Being short is great :)

There was a huge spider outside our door, but it was really high up. Of course we wanted it dead, so our friend Josh (the same one who gave us the nick names) lifted us up on his shoulders and handed us his shoe. The spider fell on Lynds, and we both screamed. People came out of the other apartment to see if something was wrong haha. Now there is a permanent scuff mark high up on the wall, and we are so proud. We hope it stays there forever. :)

Well, it's past midnight, so I'm going to go to bed, but as a side note, most of the background music to my tv show would definitely be T-Swift :)
Love y'all!

silly little poem

My man is gonna be great.
He'll laugh and smile when he takes me on dates
He'll be charming and sweet
he'll love my family as soon as they meet
We'll go dance in the rain in the bed of his truck,
He'll help me with problems if I ever get stuck
He'll take my hand, and he'll open my doors
He'll even turn on our favorite songs while we do the chores
He'll be responsible, but fun
and he'll take me on trips when all our work is done
He'll serve, and he'll care
if I want a bite of his snack, he'll willingly share
He'll kill all the spiders that crawl on my floor
He'll rub my back, even if it's not sore.
He'll listen to what I say
and He'll always try to make my day
He'll love me for me
and that's just the way I hope it will be!

I always knew, but I didn't want to admit it

Everything happens for a reason. No matter what happens, things will work out the way they are supposed to be, even if it's different than what you expect.
Even though I absolutely didn't want to go to Utah State, I know that's where I'm supposed to be. I guess I sort of always knew I'd be going there, but I didn't want to admit it. I kept thinking "anywhere but USU," but Heavenly Father had a different plan in mind. Now that I know it's the right place for me, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. People keep telling me, "you're gonna love Utah State," and even though I'm absolutely, positively, terrified, I know that it's just a way to help me grow. My Mom keeps telling me, "things just keep getting better and better." You know what? She's probably right.

one of those days

I hate those days when you just feel...blah. why do I feel blah? I have no reason at all! nothing bad happened today. I watched lots of psych, I ate some subway, I wrote 2 missionary letters, I even saw some hilarious magic tricks by the brother and his friend. I shouldn't feel blah, but I just do. It's probably just hormones or something.

My first Elders!

Today my pals Garrett and Tanner had a double farewell.  It was my first friend farewell, and I actually did a lot better than I thought. I still cried, but I was ok with that. They were amazing. They are going to be incredible missionaries, and I know they are going to make a difference in Tallahassee Florida (Garrett) and Farmington New Mexico (Tanner). I couldn't be more proud. :)

I'm a Mom! (for a day)

I got my robot baby in child development, and it's a girl! She is cooing as we speak. It's been slightly hard, but it's been fun. I still haven't decided her name though, it will come eventually.
 (She is baby E)
I've learned something today. Motherhood is tough stuff.

Anyway, the point of this whole post is to say....
Thanks for all you do Mom. I love you :)
